As we move into the holiday season, the Johnson Orthodontics team wants to acknowledge our family and friends, our neighbors and communities who have come together to help those in need and lift each other up. The past year has had its highs and lows, but being able to rely and depend upon those around us provides a sense of love and community that nothing can compare to. In spite of all the adjustments and ‘new normals’ that it brought, we’re counting our many blessings and feeling like 2021 was a year to be thankful for!
We value our Rehoboth Beach community, and feel fortunate to be surrounded by people who genuinely care about each other. Throughout these crazy times, our team has been committed to demonstrating our appreciation and doing our part to give back to our amazing community. Keep reading to learn more about our community involvement and what we’re thankful for as this year comes to a close.
Supporting Local Schools
We believe that education is the passport to the future, which is why we partner with a number of organizations that focus on supporting schools, teachers, and students in Kent and Sussex counties! This year, we donated school supplies through the Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation’s Caravan of Caring to ensure that every child has the tools they need to succeed!
We supported our schools in other ways throughout the year, including:
- Gave two college scholarships to graduating high school seniors
- Donated Orthodontic Emergency Kits and other care supplies to every school nurse in our district
- Provided every 2nd grader in our district with free oral care supplies and education to keep their smiles shining bright and healthy!
Don’t be surprised if you see us at your child’s next game, play, or other school event—we’ve been working with parent teacher organizations across Rehoboth Beach to sponsor school events, sports teams, and all the extracurriculars that make school such a special time.
We’re always amazed by our hard-working, dedicated teachers, which is why every year we give out over $750 in gift cards to teachers nominated by our patients! It’s our way of expressing gratitude to those who make it all possible, and of thanking them for their patience in letting us borrow their students every few weeks!
Caring for our Community
Our patients never cease to make us smile, so we return the favor by sending them cards (and DQ gift cards!) whenever we hear about their special achievements or if they need a little pick-me-up. We also hold regular patient appreciation events to show our gratitude for all the smiles and great memories you’ve shared with us, like when we gave patients visiting the boardwalk wristbands so they could ride all the rides, on us!
As the pandemic continues to impact the lives of those in and around Rehoboth Beach, we do our best to put smiles on everyone’s faces. We’re continuing our tradition of sponsoring a local family in need to help make their holidays a little brighter.
